Beverly M. (Ware) "Bev" Ames, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at age 79.

Born on January 9, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Stanley P. and Hazel (Woodcock) Ware. Bev was born and raised in Everett, and was an Everett High School graduate. On July 5, 1980, she married her soul mate and husband the late Ken Ames in Everett, and lived in Melrose for many years. At home, Bev enjoyed taking care of her many plants, was an avid reader, and being with her beloved cats "Pepper" and "Angel". For many years, she enjoyed cooking or baking especially around the holidays with Ken. From a young age, she loved the home shopping network, always on the lookout for a new purchase or good deal. Above all else, Bev was dedicated to her husband and best friend, Ken.

Known by all as "Bev," she was the longtime and well loved church secretary for the First Baptist Church in Melrose. She dedicated herself to the Church while her husband Ken was a longtime member and Church sexton. Well organized, Bev had years of experience as a secretary and bookkeeper and excelled in the role at First Baptist, keeping everything running and always with a smile. Bev will be missed, but lovingly remembered as a sincere, honest woman with a kind heart and easy laugh.

Bev was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Ames who passed away on December 28, 2009. Dear sister of the late Dorothy Dupont, and Nancy Hamilton. Loving aunt of Carl Dupont and his wife Andrea of Woonsocket, RI, the late Donna Jewell, and many other nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Bev for her Funeral Service at the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St., Melrose on Friday, December 9 at 10am. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Gifts in Bev's memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St., Melrose MA 02176.
