Tribute & Message From The Family

Mr. George C. Farraher, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away at home in his sleep on Monday, September 13, 2021, at age 80.

Born in Stoneham on May 8, 1941, George was one of three children of the late George P. Farraher and Frances I. (Robertson) Farraher. He was raised in Malden and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Lynn. While working at Acme Printing in Everett, he met his future wife Charlotte Canzano and they were married on September 7, 1963. They settled in Melrose to raise a family of three children.

Hard working, and determined, George began working for Acme Printing in 1958, and served in nearly every position throughout his 40-year career. He retired in 1999 as Vice President and Treasurer after dedicating himself to the success of the company. He enjoyed many years helping build the printing business and made a positive impact in the lives of many coworkers and friends within the printing industry.

George was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing tennis for many years. He was a member of Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose, Naples Grande Golf Club in Naples, FL, and Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee. He enjoyed spending summers in South Yarmouth, often seen relaxing on the front porch with the Boston Globe and Boston Herald. George also was a member of the Boston Litho Club.

For many years, George participated in races at Wonderland Greyhound Park in Revere as a partner in Cin-Farr Enterprizes with his late friend, John Cinella. Over the course of his life, George maintained many close friendships that were dear to his heart. He appreciated the bonds that he developed and always remained loyal to his friends.

George will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered for his love of family, his loyalty, and his quiet strength and determination.

George was the beloved husband of Charlotte E. (Canzano) Farraher with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Devoted father of George Farraher and his wife Nicole of Saugus, Michael Farraher and his wife Allison of Saugus, and Tracy Farraher of Melrose. Dear brother of the late Jean LaPanne, and Patricia Wilkinson. Cherished grandfather of Ava, Ella, Gidge, Calabrese, Vionna, and Jaxton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services to honor George's life will be held privately at this time. Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. If you wish, donations in memory of George may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org For online tribute visit RobinsonFuneralHome.com.

My deepest condolences to Charlotte, Gig, Michael, Tracy, and family during this difficult time. I'll always remember George as a very kind, generous, and caring human being. He wasn't just a good friend to my father, but to the whole Cinella family as well. Always greeting me with a "Jay Baby!" and a high five when he walked in our house, I'll never forget listening to the countless stories him and my father shared about family and life happenings. When it came to sporting events, George always had the connection when finding difficult tickets. George also took me to my first Celtics game back in the early 90's in the skybox seats during Larry Bird's final season, and for that, I'm forever grateful.

Rest In Peace my friend...hopefully you and my father are striking it big in Keno up in heavens version of Jiffy Mart!

Ali and I wish to express the heartfelt sadness we feel for your family and for ourselves at the passing of George. George had a genuine and deeply felt impact on our lives. Outside of my professional relationship Ali and I had many opportunities to share moments of personal connections with George. And continuing through the years, we have often shared memories of the moments we spent with the tall handsome Irish man whose, wit, humor, wisdom, and street smartness we will always remember and treasure.
