Tribute & Message From The Family

Grace Catherine Zinck left her loving and devoted family and friends on Friday April 23, 2021 at home. She was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 prenatally and spent all of her 17 years bringing pure joy to all who touched her life. She was the epitome of strength and resilience, far exceeding every expectation, while inspiring those fortunate enough to join her journey. She was a friend to many, a role model of inclusion and she never met a stranger she didn't like. Grace loved to share that she was, "kind of famous, you know!" Grace had an eye for style. She loved to compliment your new haircut or pretty outfit, especially if it was purple. She loved to travel with her extended family and was quite the foodie. She never shied away from a new restaurant and a seat with the best view. Grace was an active freshman at Melrose High School and proud member of the MHS Unified Basketball Team where she had quite a hand pass. She was also a member of the Tufts Women's Lacrosse team through Team Impact. In 2017 Grace was named Miss Amazing Teen Massachusetts. A crown she wore proudly.

Grace leaves this world as the loving and cherished daughter of Brian and Catherine Zinck of Melrose, the favorite and proud big sister to Brendan and Audrey Zinck and of course Levi, her dog. She is the granddaughter of Peter and Jane Doyle of Monument Beach, MA, Faye and Peter Van of Boca Raton, FL, the late Frank Zinck and his wife Jean of Melrose. Grace was the niece of Kristen and Michael Murphy of Milton, MA and the late Peter Doyle Jr. as well as her amazing cousins with whom she shares many great memories, Matt, Jack, Ryan, and Colin.

At this time, services will be private. If you would like to view a live stream of the Funeral, please click on https://my.gather.app/remember/grace-zinck on Friday, April 30 at 9:00am. Grace would love nothing more than a true celebration of her life and plans for those will be shared at a later date, reflecting all that she was. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund, Grace Zinck Memorial Scholarship, at http://mhsfund.org/donate.html . A portion of the proceeds will be donated by the Fund to Malden Catholic High School and St. Mary's High School, Lynn, in honor of Grace. This fund will give back and provide scholarships for students with families embracing disabilities.

"Amazing Grace" will never be forgotten by all who touched her life. As you remember her, know that she would want you to spend time with the ones you love, go to Maine and play a game or sit by a fire, take a trip to an ice cream shop, take a walk on a beautiful day, jump in a boat for a ride, or grab a jar of Nutella. Most of all live your life as Grace did… spreading joy and kindness to all you come in contact with and ensure that everyone feels as loved as she was. Spread her attributes like the ray of sunshine Grace was.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to you Cathy, Brian, Brendan and Audrey, and all of Grace's family and loved ones. I hadn't seen Grace in years but was always aware of her amazing story and inspiring life. How proud you must feel to have brought such a wonderful person into this world, and privileged to have been in her presence through all of the struggles and triumphs. Take comfort that she radiated positivity to all she met, and be at peace in the knowledge that she made everyone around her better for having known her. You are all often in my thoughts, and I hope that you can find strength and joy as time marches on.

When I would see Grace's pictures, I always thought back to the day Grace was born. She was one of the most beautiful little babies I have ever seen. She truly was one of God's miracles. Even though her time was TOOO short here, her life was lived to the fullest. She clearly touched so many lives. May you all find peace in knowing you will see Grace again someday and she will watch over you all in the meantime.

Dear Faye & Peter, Brian & Family in the loss of your Precious Grace. I know she was the love of Faye's life & all of you in the family. My heart hurts for the loss of a precious young lady that graced your lives for 17 years. As she goes to Heaven, she will be a complete young lady that earth deprived her of, so her happy and complete life will begin now. My heart hurts for all of your loss of a dear child, but mostly to my dear grandmother, Faye, who totally adored & loved her Grace. With much love to all, Debra Law

Grace represented the best of this world. And it's going to be a darker one without her. Thank you, Brian and Cathy, for sharing her with us. Life won't be the same without her, but we are so grateful to have so many memories of her. Birthday parties, Halloween, Girl Scouts and all those Roosevelt days. She enriched our lives and those of so many! We are praying for you in this difficult time.

Sorry To hear about Grace passing away. Whenever I saw her at the rink she would always greet you with a big hello and her smile could make a bad day better.

Grace was a leader at the Roosevelt Elementary School when our kids started there. We don't know your family personally but your daughter welcomed and supported our girls in their entry into school. Her huge smile, friendly manner, ease with people and joy were contagious. Kids around her adored her and looked up to her. Grace's talkative nature with adults and stories put all at ease and reminded us to be mindful and grateful. Grace was a gem, with love to share with all. Grace was a true hero and gift to anyone who had the honor of meeting her. Grace's presence will carry on in our community for generations to come. My deepest sympathy to your family during this time of loss and grief. Your small city is behind you.

Grace was apart of the Jumbos lacrosse team before I joined. The first time we met and coach introduced me Grace said "I know who you are!", Grace had taken my online bio and added me to the team binder she had created. I was touched, honored, and love every second I got to spend with Grace!
