Tribute & Message From The Family

Evelyn M. (Thomas) Accorto, a resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at age 88.

Evelyn was born in Cambridge on June 28, 1932, one of eight children of the late Manuel and Helen (Gagnon) Thomas. Raised and educated in East Cambridge, she married the late Pat Accorto in 1954, and they made their home in Somerville with generations of the Accorto family. From a young age, family was at the core of Evelyn's life. After 25 years of marriage, Evelyn was confronted with the tragic loss of her husband Pat, and the challenging task of raising her two children while working. For many years, Evelyn worked as a mail room supervisor in Boston for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Evelyn never let an obstacle deter her, and continually cared for her family throughout all.

Evelyn took great pride in her motherly and grandmotherly duties. She found pleasure in cleaning, ironing, and cooking to provide the perfect home for family. Evelyn was famous for searching for gifts nearly every day for her family and was always able to find a bargain. She was also well known for a love of scratch tickets, and enjoyed surprising her family with scratch tickets after family dinners. A loving grandmother, she also took delight in card games and movies with her grandchildren.

Evelyn will be greatly missed, but her dedication and loyalty to family will be her lasting legacy.

Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Pat M. Accorto with whom she shared 25 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Karla Cerulle and her husband Anthony of Wakefield, and Carl Accorto and his wife Susan of Epping, NH. Predeceased by her siblings, Joseph Thomas, Francis Thomas, Helen Sousa, Arthur Thomas, Marie Masci, Madeline Lomonaco, and Margaret Miano. Cherished nana of Michael and Danielle Accorto, Karla Accorto, Joseph Cerulle, James Cerulle, and great nana to Jack Accorto. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday, April 12 from 9am-11:15am before leaving in procession for her Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 12pm. All attendees are respectfully asked to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and pay their respects and exit the Funeral Home promptly to allow other guests to enter. A limited number of guests will be allowed in the funeral home at one time. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. If you wish, contributions in Evelyn's memory may be made to St Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield MA 01880.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Karla, Carl and family please accept my sincere sympathy for the loss of your mom. Evelyn was a wonderful woman with a beautiful smile and a warm loving heart. I worked with Evelyn at Mass. Rehabilitation Commission in Boston. It was my first job and Evelyn became my "work mom". Her humor and warmth made everyday so much fun. Our relationship lasted for several years beyond my employment there.
I have so many memories of times at Evelyn's home. I was blessed to know her. Her love for your Dad
was truly beautiful. Whenever she spoke of him she said "my Pat". As a young girl this touched my heart and inspired me to look for that kind of love. I will always remember Evelyn for her smile, laugh and
devotion to her family. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

To the Accorto family, I express my sorrow of the passing of your dear mother. What a decent and loving person she was. Carl and Karla, I remember visiting your family home, and your mother was always smiling and welcoming me to your warm and loving home. She was truly a gift to you both, and really to all of us who knew her. As you go through this difficult time, my belief teaches me that she is home now, with those that have passed before her, especially your father, and until we see her again, may she rest in Eternal Peace.

Aunt Eve, where do I start . Thank you for always there to listen and just tell me what you would do and never say another word. You, my mother, nana and I had a special relationship. We went shopping, had lunch or just hung out at Nana's house. After my mom passed it was you, nana and me and the routine continued, the nana passed and it was just you and I. At Nana's funeral you made promise to never loose contact with you and I didn't. I will cherish our dinners at the continental and breakfast at iron town. Now you passed and it is just me. You were never just a aunt you were a extra grandmother to me. Rest In Peace Aunt Ev. I love. Xo

She was my sister in law and my best friend when we were young. Since I moved out of state, she was raising her family and it was hard for both of us. ....as families were separated..... I love her dearly...she was a wonderful mother and friend. My heart is bleeding for her children.

Aunt Ev, I don't know where to start. You were always someone special in my life. I knew if I called you you would just listen and tell me what you thought. You, my mother, nana Marie and I had a special relationship. We would have our weekly lunch, then my mother passed and it was the three of us, then nana passed and it was you and I, now it is just me ! I remember at Nana's funeral you made me promise you and I would not loose contact with each other and we never did. I will always remember our dinners at the Continental or breakfast at Iron town. Every time I buy a scratchy ticket I will think of you. I never thought of you as a aunt but a extra grandmother. I love you and miss you to pieces. Rest In Peace my aunt Ev. Xo
