Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Jean by adding your memories and photos.

Mrs. Jean Yeung Hong, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was 80 years of age.

Jean was born in China, a daughter of the late Fung Chun Yeung and Woon Ho (Cheung) Yeung. She came to the United States in 1955 and settled in Melrose with her husband where they raised three daughters. In her free time, Jean loved gardening, line dancing, and traveling extensively with her husband.

Jean was devoted to her family and deeply cherished the time she spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She took great pride in raising her four grandchildren, who will never forget her dedication, love and selflessness.

Jean was the beloved wife of Rolland C. Hong with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Jennifer C. Chin of Framingham, Kathleen C. Sullivan and her husband Daniel of Stoneham, and Lillian C. Hong of Melrose. Dear sister of Penny Soo Hing Chong and her late husband Hong Fee Chong, Lan Jung and her late husband Sunny Jung, Soo Ping Wong and her late husband William Wong, So Ling Yeung, Soo Guan and husband Xi Chao Guan, all of Toronto, Canada, and the late Wing Jung Yeung and his wife Kitty Yeung of Randolph. Dear sister-in-law of Wai Hing Yeung of South Boston. Cherished grandmother of Curtis H. Chin and his wife Ashley Ward of Waltham, Zoe H. Chin of Somerville, Kenzie H. Chin of New York City, and Alexander C. Sullivan of Stoneham.

For every heart Jean touched, she leaves a person blessed.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Jean's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, April 3 from 4-8PM, and for her Funeral Service celebrated on Saturday, April 4 at 10AM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.

I often saw Mrs. Hong at her grandson Alexander's school (same age as our daughter Nicole). She was so friendly and kind every time and I was always struck by how pretty she was always smiling. Our heartfelt thoughts go to her family during this time. With love, Melinda, Andy, Nicole & Amy
