David Pingree Wallstrom Obituary

David Pingree Wallstrom, a resident of Leominster and former longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family's love on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster, at age 79.

Dave was born in Stoneham on July 15, 1938, one of two children of the late George E. Wallstrom and Gladys A. (Pingree) Wallstrom. He was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School in 1956, and from his beloved Bates College in 1960. Dave worked for First National Bank of Boston as a systems analyst for several years and in the student loan industry later in his career.

Dave was a sweet, heartfelt man with a great sense of humor. He always wanted to make everyone happy with a joke, or a few lines from a favorite song. A music lover, Dave had a vast music collection and could sing any number of his favorite country tunes from the likes of Hank Snow, the Everett Brothers and Hank Williams. He also had a love for Broadway music, swimming, stamp collecting, playing Bridge, and trains.

A man of deep faith, Dave was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Melrose where he enjoyed singing in the Choir, and weekly bible studies. After living in Melrose most of his life, he relocated to Leominster in 2008 to be closer to family. With a genuine interest in making others happy, Dave was a well-liked and active presence at Leominster Crossings, Manor on the Hill, and the Life Care Center of Leominster.

Most of all, Dave's family and his friends meant the world to him. He delighted in seeing his grandchildren, had a song ready for everyone, and loved going out for dinner especially for his favorite meal, Fettuccini Alfredo. Dave will be missed, but always remembered.

David was the devoted father of Steven M. Wallstrom of Pembroke and Deborah L. Perrault and her husband Jacques of Leominster. Caring brother of Natalie Stenseth and her husband Darrell of Kirkland, WA. Loving "Papa" to Ethan, Kaitlyn, Kylie and Emma Perrault of Leominster and uncle to Eric Stenseth of Monroe, WA.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor and remembrance of David's life for his Funeral Service at the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St., Melrose on Friday, May 18 at 11am. Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
